A message for salon professionals


This restricts the manufacture, distribution of, sale of cosmetic products containing nine

chemicals and chemical classes, including lead and lead compounds. A change to the

January 25, 2025 effectives date has been made. products with lead or lead impurities

over 1 part per million (ppm).


The group ECOLOGY has issued this interim policy to provide compliance guidance to

manufacturers. This provides:

More time for manufacturers to comply with lead impurities restriction.

ECOLOGY - More time to collect information

Manufacturers alternative paths to compliance for cosmetic products.
