As we elevate our status to being an exceptional hair color ARTIST, scheduling sufficient
time becomes very. important. After seeing how beautiful your services are, clients WILL
understand why your price per service might be higher than other colorists in your area.
OK....... The LIGHTER THE HAIR COLOR, the more visible product build-up, cellular
bbris, and environmental pollution tone will show up on the hiar. In other words, the
client's color looks dull and perhaps a bit dark when she arrives for her regular color
appointment. This situation is particularly visible on pastel blonde or very blonde highlighted
clients. Attempting to remedy this situation by applying lightener to those dull hair lengths
during a color retouch is NOT THE SAFEST WAY to correct this situation! ... It saves you
time, but this also has a negative affect on the condition of the previously lightened portions of the hair.
FACT: Although this takes time and effort, I've learned that the BEST way to create a
brilliant light shade or blonde result on environmentally "dulled" hair lengths is to begin
the color appointment by shampooing the hair with a clarifying shampoo.
I like to thoroughly wet the client's hair, apply the shampoo and work it very thoroughly throughout the. hair.. root to ends. Then, I hit the hair with a burst of water, which loosens the
latther and, with my hands, "suds" this loose lather throughout the hair. Place a towel under
the client's neck (for comfort) and set a timer for 5 minutes. This permits the solution to effectively lift dulling tonal deposit from the hair. Then: Rinse thoroughly, condition lightly to
detangle and to close the cuticle. Dry the hair thoroughly. Begin your color or highlighting
service.
I recommend that you engage a color apprentice to help with this.. OR schedule
sufficient time, as this important step is part of an exquisite color service... Think of creating a gourmet meal rather than a microwaved dinner... Time, effort, and cost are involved. I know this sounds like a time-consuming and physically demanding big step.
Doing this is, of course, YOUR DECISION. You might test this approach
one client and see the beautiful difference for yourself.
I'll present this approach in class: I hope to meet you on April 7th in Indianapolis, Indiana at Robert Pence Salon and Day Spa, or on Monday, April 28th at Charles David Salon in Hanover, Ma. ,
