The Human Touch - Keeping Salons Relevant

Automation is coming to the beauty industry. I remember laughing with people — remarking that robots could not replace salon pros… that little joke is no longer funny.


Fact: many new professionals have learned chiefly on manniquins. . So, since mannequins have no opinion, they do not complain about a lack luster, lousy shampoo service or a bad experience at the sink. Sadly, I see a few ‘new’ salon pros who simply do not know how to wash hair… and I believe that some do not even care!


Note that Takara Belmont is actively creating a salon spa machine that washes hair without human involvement. Target is researching ‘no manicurist needed’ manicure machines which might be in their stores in the not too distant future…

I am fortunate to have very expert friends who work in our industry. They share with me. So, I’m able to obtain information .. even when I’d prefer not to! .
